About the FMD ICC
The FMD Industry Coordination Council is an industry coordination structure that supports the national response to Foot-and-Mouth Disease. The State leads the response. Industry supports implementation.
The ICC was mandated by the Minister of Agriculture to coordinate and liaise with red meat industry role players and organised agriculture in support of the national FMD response.
What the ICC does
- Industry coordination across the red meat value chain.
- Situational information shared with members and the public.
- Communications and guidance notes aligned with the Ministerial Task Team and official directives.
- Traceability readiness, logistics coordination, training and awareness.
- Implementation monitoring and technical work streams.
What the ICC does not do
The ICC is not a regulator. It does not lead the response. Disease-control authority sits with the Minister of Agriculture and the Director of Animal Health. State veterinary services implement disease control measures.
